Were it not for the opposition of anti-nuclear political groups we would already be recycling spent fuel.

Second, every study done by responsible analysts shows that nuclear energy is as effective at lowering greenhouse-gas emissions as any of the renewable energy sources.

For solid information from the most authoritative sources available, please look at The Case for Nuclear Energy: Greenhouse Gas Emissions.Red Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17747325685399501190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5948976019240936827.post-83968153807379279362009-03-17T08:27:00.000-07:002009-03-17T08:27:00.000-07:00I'm all for nuclear power - once it has discovered...I'm all for nuclear power - once it has discovered how to deal with the waste. This continued and perplexing problem makes it the outdoor "biffy" without a tank or a bail-out.

However, does it deal with global warming? Probably not since the construction of nuclear power plants requires so much energy and pay-back time is sufficiently long that we wouldn't start seeing results for almost twenty years after powering up.

So - fix the waste problem but in the meantime start investing in low-input technology. Nukes might be the way to keep us sustainable but not in the current pardon-the-pun climate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
